ELIZABETH EASON, AIA, LEED AP

Elizabeth Eason founded Elizabeth Eason Architecture, LLC in 2003 and serves as principal architect. Elizabeth graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Architecture and brings over 20 years of professional experience to the firm. That experience includes work with architects, engineers, and contractors in Melbourne, Australia; Seattle, Washington; and Eugene, Oregon, but Knoxville has always been her hometown.

Her passion for sustainable design began early during a childhood spent playing in the East Tennessee mountains. Naturally, she grew up with an appreciation of the ecological beauty of this region. Elizabeth continues to spend free time hiking and playing in the mountains.

Elizabeth is a founding member of the East Tennessee U.S. Green Building Council and currently serves as the chair. She has served on the Knoxville Tree Board, is a board member with Knox Heritage, and volunteers with the East Tennessee Community Design Center. She also serves on the Knoxville Energy and Sustainability Task Force and Governor Bredesen’s Tennessee Energy Policy Task Force.

PAUL BERNEY

When Paul was 15, he helped built a barn from lumber salvaged from a dilapidated home. Since then, he has been drawn to the idea of finding new uses for discarded materials. Later, he was able to employ that desire by becoming an AmeriCorps and a VISTA member, where he did moderate construction and worked for a recycling marketing cooperative. Paul also enjoys working in his community. He has been on the boards of Council of Involved Neighborhoods, Partnership for Neighborhood Improvement, and Networking Neighborhoods. He is currently a board member of Old Mechanicsville Neighborhood Interest.

Paul graduated from the University of Tennessee’s College Scholar’s Program and later entered UT’s College of Architecture Masters Program. He has worked for more than five years in construction-related jobs and two years with design firms. He enjoys learning about alternative construction methods and likes to keep up with the latest product developments.

He earned a degree in architecture with honors from the University of Tennessee and decided to practice in Knoxville as a way to give something back to his hometown. His pastimes include early morning running, bluegrass, hiking, reading and spending time with his wife Susanne and their dog Lucy.

MATTHEW KELLOGG, LEED Green Associate

Matthew’s passion for historic restoration/preservation and genuine concern for the environment brought him to Elizabeth Eason Architecture, LLC.  As a designer and project manager he enjoys architecture from start to finish and is rewarded by working on some of the most progressive and thoughtful design in the southeast.  He earned his degree in architecture from the University of Tennessee and spent many nights sneaking over to the Planning School to catch classes that eventually led him to the historic neighborhood he now proudly calls home, Parkridge.  A native of East Tennessee, Matthew takes full advantage of what the area has to offer, you’ll either pass him riding his bike to work or running the lunch hour away.

LARK MCMILLAN

Lark McMillan is the Administrative Assistant at Elizabeth Eason Architecture, LLC.

Lark has degrees from Brevard College in Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education and Emerson College in Print and Multimedia Journalism. A love for wild places fueled her interest in sustainability, and her master’s degree project at Emerson consisted of a series of articles about green building and sustainable design in Boston.

When not in the office, Lark works part-time at a concert production and promotions company, which indulges her love of music. Lark can be seen most nights of the week catching live performances of bluegrass, Americana, jazz, honky-tonk, or just about any other type of music.

She also enjoys spending time with her cats, Beacon and Sunday, and wandering around the woods.
