Belle Morris Elementary School “Green Addition”

The addition to the historic Belle Morris Elementary School will provide permanent classrooms and replace the temporary modular buildings currently used by the school. Our team’s design will utilize many sustainable design strategies to create a healthy environment for the students and reduced energy bills for the school system. Studies released by Capital E show that students perform better on standardized tests when they attend “green” schools. The green strategies we are incorporating, such as higher quality of indoor air and natural day lighting, have been shown to help improve student health, attendance, and academic performance. We are excited to work with Knox County Schools to bring the many benefits from the integration of sustainable design strategies in our schools.
