Beechwood Renovation

This architect-designed home, which was built in the 70s, was due for an upgrade. EEA’s approach was to respect the original architect’s vision and design new elements to complement the original.

A new screened porch with a roof that slopes up away from the house, gave the family room to enjoy outdoor living, while allowing more light into the living room.

The introduction of new energy efficient windows was an opportunity to introduce a new pattern of operable and inoperable windows, giving the clients many ventilation options.

The new metal roof is more energy efficient and resilient during weather events.

On the interior, EEA was able to brighten up the rooms by replacing the dark shag carpeting with a light wood floor. At the same time, we maintained the original wood paneled celling, and the unique window treatments and cove lighting. The mix of original and new elements is now working together to create cozy rooms with views into the woods and lake beyond.
