Sugar Grove Farmhouse
We were excited to design a new farmhouse on this lovely East Tennessee property. Our clients wanted a small, comfortable home with the ability to easily accommodate friends and family on special occasions.
The house is nestled protectively at the edge of the woods and overlooks a large meadow and a pond. A porch wraps two sides of the house creating plenty of outdoor space for large family gatherings. The porch moderates the southern sun and transitions from indoor space to outdoors.
We collaborated with the client to create a design that includes her salvaged finds and many natural elements. The home has a modern sense of openness with plenty of air and natural light, but with a soft aesthetic and rustic elements.
On the first floor are the main bedroom and an office. Under the steep roof on the second floor are cozy bedrooms, sleeping nooks, a reading space, and a sleeping porch for visiting family and friends.
